A 1990 blue Miata. After months and months of searching and accepting the fact that the MR2 is nowhere to be found, I have landed my dream car.

I shall dub thee, Bloo. I have taken the plunge of buying my first manual car and it is both very exciting and scary to be learning on something I care about so much. But it had to be done.

Picture is of the car and my dad after we took off the rollbar and front license plate.

If it was a Hard Dog bar, and it was installed correctly, that means you can pass tech for autocross and track days.

It wasn’t a Hard Dog. Just a chrome roll bar that was surprisingly light. It didn’t even weigh 10 lbs.

You’ve got to check for the short-nose crank issue on those early 1.6 cars. Good buy! I love a good Mariner Blue! My decision to get a Miata was similar to yours: I chose to get mine after realizing that I would never find a clean E30, MR2 or 240sx in my $3500 budget.

Great car to learn to drive manual on, it’s what I did. When you drive another manual you’ll feel like you’re rowing a boat changing gears. I took the super-duper short throw for granted.

Yeah don’t scare me with that crank issue...The previous owner had just gotten a timing belt and water pump replacement before he sold it to me. The service receipt says they replaced the Crankshaft seal. Now I am paranoid.
